Nov 2023 - Remembrance Day Service

      - Remembrance Day Service

  Our Normanby Local History Group organised a Remembrance Day Service on Saturday the 11th November 2023 at the Normanby Great War Memorial (corner of High Street & West Street).
  The participants assembled at the Normanby War Memorial at 10:50am following the road closure of West Street.
  Reverend David Godfrey M.A. (Methodist Superintendent Minister) led the service.   This year’s Standard Bearer was Eric Taylor and piper Phil Meadows played the Last Post.   As it was a Saturday no organised groups of children from local schools took part this year but several children attended with their parents.
  A wreath was laid on behalf of our Normanby Local History Group by Sue Longstaff (Group Secretary).
  After the concluding prayer Phil Meadows the piper & Reverend David Godfrey led us to the new Remembrance Garden in Cleveland Street for the laying of more wreaths and personal poppies.
   All who wished then proceeded to Normanby Methodist Church for refreshments.
