"The photo is correctly entitled as ’Prefects’, identified by their Prefects’ ties.
I still have my tie!! as well as the school tie and the jacket badge.
The motto of ’Sapere Aude’ means ’Dare to be Wise’.
We had our own Prefects’ Room. Non-prefects were not permitted to enter!"

I do not know the name of pupil F-7 who joined the 6th Form midway through the year."

"There is a mention of a Technical School which was part of the Secondary Modern School in South Bank
and was located in a building on the road to Grangetown opposite the old Dorman Longs coke ovens.
The Deputy Head Boy Dave Brearly (F-8 above) came to the [Grammar] school having attended that school.
He passed what was sort of known as the 13+ taken after two years of secondary education.
Because he came form another school he joined as, I think, in the second year,
which is why, as a year older than his brother Ray (B-6 above) they are both together in the Upper Sixth."

"My name in B-4 above should be Forster not Foster.
Recalled most of the names before seeing the full list. Great memories, Pete in Canada"

31 Mar 2018 - Alan Pengilley (M-1 Photo 20 Page U 1st Form 1 Alpha) remembered another name - B-3 David Hendry.
18 Sep 2018 - Linda Helman (nee Motson F-11 Photo 15 Page P Class 4) identified the teacher as Miss Rhodes and said:-
"She got married sometime before 1965 but no idea when and I cannot remember her married name."
28 Sep 2018 - Alan Henderson (M-4 Photo 11 Page L) The teacher’s married name was Mrs Tate.
29 Sep 2018 - WebMaster checked FreeBMD web-site & found a marriage of Patricia Rhodes to Rodney Tate
at Scarborough in Apr-Jun 1962. Checking with Linda & Alan they replied:-
Alan Henderson said "Sounds about right, Miss Rhodes became Mrs. Tate in 1962 when I was in 3rd year."
Linda Helman said:-
"Alan’s spot on with Mrs Tate (it’s all coming back to me!) and must surely be right with FreeBMD search."

2 Oct 2023 - Eric Palmer (B-5 above) provided a name (B-2 William? Robinson) and said:-
"I remember very well the boy in the back row, No.2. His surname is Robinson, I am not sure if he was called Will,
William or Bill. I suspect in 1st year he was a William and as time went on he became a Bill.
In 5th year I remember him as Willy Wobba as we all had nicknames, my Eric had become Ecka.
Along with Alan Roper (B-1 Photo 22 Page W 1st Form 1) we all had motorbikes in later years. Fond memories...."
